In my first post, I explain the meaning of my first name. And, as you're here, you likely want to know what's with the Sometimes of it all.

I'm a firm believer in right timing.

I was born precisely at sunrise on a Wednesday in early September and consider "for everything there is a season" a key part of my operating system. I am neither Jewish nor Christian but wisdom is universal and, with the exception of the first part of verse 3 and the end of verse 8, Ecclesiastes 3:1-13 is wise. If you're familiar with the passage, I'm vegan. And a pacifist. If you're not familiar, those traits are a clue as to what lies at the beginning of verse 3 and at the end of verse 8.

I'm a true lover of the ephemeral.

I adore the ripe here and now and the processes of discovery and becoming. Yes, even when the caterpillar of us dissolves into goo. I'm a collector of vintage and antique items and thus adore the mark of use and age we call patina. But my holding a love of the fleeting and a love of the lasting equally dear is not a contradiction. It's tempting to imagine the past and our relationship to it as fixed, but a relic doesn't look as it did when it was created and it won't forever look as it does now. And if broken or lost, it's often difficult or impossible to repair or replace. Not that we shouldn't try...

I say never to always but always to sometimes.

My two loves and I hold things with an open hand and in so doing, we make space for the one and only constant: sometimes, also known as change, context, and circumstance. In that spirit, I can't promise you a fixed publication schedule (things happen) or a tidy list of topics (my interests and inspirations are varied). But I can promise you me, whoever she is, wherever she goes, and whatever it is she can't help but share when she can't help but share it.

Welcome to Allison Sometimes, dear Reader. I hope you decide to stay a while.
